After the exertions of 2014 where I cycled across the USA I then in 2015 repeated some of the same effort as I flew into Toronto and then proceed down the USA to the Gulf Coast. Along the way I dropped into Nashville (the home of Country Music), onto Alabama and the town of Muscle Shoals where some of the greatest music of the 1960’s and 70’s was created. From here it was to Memphis (Stax, Elvis and Beale Street) before sliding down to the Mississippi Delta and Robert Johnson's Crossroads. I proceeded south in to the heat that is New Orleans and all that jazz. With the music done I pedalled east to Florida to take some rest.
This end up being just under 3,000 miles and over 80 miles a day.
As I rode I kept a blog of my ride - you may wish to check it out.
(As a trustee of York Carers Centre then I try and raise a little money. As a consequence I have given talks to groups running through my trip with PowerPoint slides and clips of music of the heroes I have come to worship and now tracked down. The story was thought to be so interesting that I went on BBC Radio York twice to talk about it and play a soundtrack of my trip.
